Someone asks me about partner codes every couple of weeks. Usually the same question: do they give you free trades or discounted spreads?
Short answer: no. AvaTrade charges zero commission on forex. You pay the spread. That's your trading cost. A partner code doesn't change that.
The code 128979 activates the bonus program. Additional trading capital depending on your deposit. Simple as that.
Bonus amounts?
Put in $1,000, receive $200 bonus.
$2,000 gets you $400.
Deposits between $5,000 and $9,999 get $1,000.
Maximum bonus is $14,000 for deposits above $100,000. Most people won't hit that.
UK accounts start at £160 for £800 deposited. Top tier reaches £11,200.
Minimum to open an account is $100. Bonus requires $1,000 minimum.
The code field isn't obvious
When you're signing up. Below the phone field, you'll see small text reading "Have a Partner Code?". Click the arrow. A field drops down. Type **128979**.
Most people miss it because it doesn't look like a proper form field until you click.
If you see an error, it's fine. Go ahead and register anyway. Contact support before funding. Tell them you want 128979 applied. They handle this regularly.
The bonus has conditions
You need to trade a certain volume.
Around 10,000 units per dollar of bonus. You'd need to trade 2,000,000 units to unlock a $200 bonus. Can take time with smaller position sizes. Happens faster than you'd think if you're active.
Your deposit is yours. Take it out anytime. Bonus funds remain locked until volume is met.
Something useful to understand: locked bonus funds still contribute to your margin. This lets you take bigger positions. Newer traders benefit from that extra cushion.
